FLUTUATING FORTUNES IN CHINA'S WAR
Received Saturdav, 12.15 a.m. NANKING, Oct. 31. Yulin, an important Shensi bastion 100 miles north of Yenan, fell to Com munist forces today, aceording to pro Government dispatches received at Nanlcing. Six Communist brigades bat tered the town unceasingly from al sides. The Communists are reported to bt using heavv artillery in desperate at tempts to break the Government de fences southwest of Kirin. A largt scale battle is raging in this area Government reports claim that the Communist casualties are more than 2000. From Mukden reports state that Government forces reeaptureil the citj of Changtu, an important rail junctioi. midway between Szepingkai and Tieh ling, the Communists retreating in dis order.
