ACCIDENTS ON MAIN ROAD
During the weekend there was a chapter of mishaps on the main highway in which motor vehicles were involved. All occurred on the stretch of road between Paraparaumu and Paekakariki. The Wellington City Council milk lorry, travelling north, pulled to the side of the road to avoid two cars that were passing each other, and in doing so went over an embankment. The driver was shaken and the' lorry slightly damaged. Near the scene a light car ran off the road in avoiding race traffic, but, luckily, the passengers escaped with a shaking. The car came to rest with its wheels in the air. While Mr. J. E. Southgate, of Otaki was engaged in assisting with his breakdown wagon, a car with two occupants ran into the truck. Mr. Southgate received head injuries, while the two passengers in the car were also injured. All three were attended by Dr. Paterson, of Paraparaumu. Another truck, in avoiding the traffic, also ran off the road, but no one was injured. On the same day two cars came into collision at the Paekakariki railway * station-, but practically no damage was done. Inspector Doggett renderOd valuable assistance.
