ORDERED EXECUTION OF 65 BRITONS

Received Thursday, 10.15 a.m. HONG KONG, Oct. 29. Vice-Admiral Sakonyu Naomasa, commander of the Sixteenth Squadron of the Japanese Southwest Fleet during the war, who has been on trial in connection with the execution of 65 survivors of the British motor-vessel Bihar, which was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the Japanese cruiser Tone on March 9, 1944, was loday sentenced to death. The captain of the cruiser Mayasami Haruo was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. Of the 111 survivors picked up by the Tone, 65 were subsequently massacred on the instructions of Naomasa, who ordered that they be "disposed of."
