Martial Law May Come in Egypt

Received Thursday, 9,45 a.m. CAIRO, Oct. 29. Menoufleh Province, south of Alexandria, has been declared an infected cholera area, making the whole of Lower Egypt, except Alexandria and Cairo, an officially infected cholera area. The Government newspaper A1 Assas reported that the British Foreign Minister, Mr. Ernest Bevin has offered Britain's help. The Egyptian Premier, Nokrashy Pasha, in reply asked for pumping machinery to provide pure drinking water. The correspondent added that it is reliably understood that the Government is considering the imposition of martial law throughout Egypt if the cholera epidemic ,hows no signs of abating. Eleven Swiss doctors, headed by the well-known bacteriological axpert, Dr. Mauser, have arrived in Cairo to help the anti-cholera fight. Turkey has sent a medical mission. A deputation of foreign doctors in Cairo and Alexandria have offered their services and the facilities of all the foreign hospitals.
