OPPOSITION FROM COUNCIL

' PROPOSED SUB-DIVISION OF ! SANATORIUM SITE 1 "I think this is a case where we should ask the Horowhenua County Council to join us in a deputation to the Minister of Health," said the Mayor of Levin, Mr. H. B. Buraekin, at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council. He was commenting on a letter received from the registrar of the Native Land Court, in which it was . point- ; ed out that the court was formulating a scheme of consolidation of the land interests of the Taueki family. The proposal envisaged a sub-division of 14 proposed building sites fronting Kawiu Road, and the writer enquired whether there would be any objection from the council to the proposals. Though no further comment was made at the meeting, the Mayor . said later that the land was that on which it was proposed that a sanatorium be erected. The council was anxious that the site be retained for this purpose, and would press 'its claim accordingly.
