CONCERT AT LEVIN FARM
The patients of the Levin Farm, Kimberley Road, were on Monday 'night treated to a concert organised by Mr. J. E. James, headmaster of the Otaki School. Held in high esteem by the children was the conjurer, Mr. Edlin, whose every performanee was greeted with applause. A skit by Messrs. Lumley and James, "The Sands of the * Desert Grow Cold," was another highlight with the "children. Durrng the community singi'ng a Maori patient captivated the ( audience with a solo rendition of the "Maori Battalion." , At the conclusion of the programme, and before the officer in ' charge, Mr. C. A. K. Guy, could thank the party, one of the patients rose and expressed appreciation, after which bouquets of flowers were presented to the pianist, Mrs. ; Bartholomew, and the matron, Miss jM. L. Cowan. Later the concert party was entertained at supper, served by one of the patients. The artists were: * Misses Dulcie Taylor, and Pat Fogden and Messrs. jTownrow, Edlin, James and Lumley. Throtigho'ut, the programme was. of a very high standard and the children's appreciation of the action of the artists in going to the farm to entertain them was very apparent from the sppntaneous applause which greeted their every appearance. -
