SYNOD TO BE HELD IN LEVIN The quarterly meeting of St. John's Methodist Church was presided over by Rev. H. S. Kings, who conducted the devotional period. Several apologies for non-gttend-ance were received. - c The membership roll remains steady. A substantial credit b.alance was reported, and that during the quarter the minister's stipend and travelling allowance had been raised in conformity with existing conditions. . Messrs. G. Hutton and F. H. Hudson were appointed auditors for the ensuing year. Special collections for the Sunday School anniversary were allowed for Sunday, November 30, when Rev. Bridges, of Island Bay, will be the preacher. At the Christmas Day service a collection will be taken for the orphanages. The circuit stewards, Messrs. H. Baumber and H. Allwood, extended to Mr. and Mrs. Kings an invitation to remain another year. Appreciative references were made to their work and services. Mr. Kings accepted the invitation. A committee was appointed to further the arrangements for the synod to be held in Levin from November 11 to 13.
