WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

LEVIN'S MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Levin Women's Institute was held in the Oddfellows' Hall last week. In the absence of the president, the vice-president, Mrs. Kellaway took the chair. Two members transferred from the Takapau W.I., and now living" in Levin, were weleomed. The half-yearly council "meeting of the Southern Wellington Federation of Women's Institutes will be held at Te Horo on October 22, commencing at 10.45 a.m. A ' bus will leave Bath Street at 9'.30 a.m. Members are asked to forward their names to the secretary, Mrs. M. Kehoe, if they wish to attend. During the meeting Mr. Watson gave a talk on the proposed community centre for Levin. He very ably outlined the running of such an orgaisation and impressed on all the object in helping and occupying the youth of the town an'd surrounding districts. The president then thanked Mr. Watson and said that she hoped that the community centre would soon eventuate-. The results of the competitions were as follows: — Flowers: Mrs. Watson 1, Mrs. Smith 2, Mrs. Young 3. Shrubs: Mrs. Watson 1, Mrs. Trotman 2 and 3..
