BOS MURPHY TAKES SPARTAN DIET WITH HIM
WELLINGTON, -Oct. 5. • A daily diet of a pound of steak, four eggs, plenty of green food, carrots and ice cream by two New Zealanders in England may be calculated to arousc some envy under present day conditions. Pfovision for this was made bv the New Zealand boxer Bos Murphv b'efore leaving for England aecompanied by the Hutt Vall^y boxer Johnnie McKenna in search of boxing honours. A P.A-. Reuter message from London says Murphy cabled the British promoter Jack Solomons to arrangecold storage space for 2cwt. of meat he was bringing with him so that he would not go short. Mr. P'. .T. Galvin, Murphy 's employer, said tonight that the preparations Murphy had made for a stay of ap*proximately eight months in Englandincluded not only the meat, which cost between £11 and £12 and consisted mainly of stealcs, livers and fat, but also 30 doz'en eggs, plenty of eheese; jams, canned- milk, soap, etc. Thesesupplies would , be shai'ed with: McKenna. The securing of the meat had been due to the generosity bf Murphy 's mu-ny friends' among whom a muster had been lield for the- necessary eouponsv Arrangements were made for the cold storage of meat on the Rimutaka.
