POLICE TO DISCUSS 40-HOUR WEEK
WELLINGTON, Oet. 3. Ineluded in the subjecta for discussion at the annual eonferenee of the New Zealand Police Association opening in Wellington on Tuesday, is the possibility of workipg a 40-haur week in the police force and its effeet on recruiting for the force. One remit deals with a proposal for an irnprovPd style of uniform and al&o a lighter unifarm for summer w.ear. Tlie eonferenee will contiiiue for three days and will be offieially opened by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, who is also Minister of Police. A complete new draft of police regulations is to be issued under the recently -passed Police Force Act and this is tQ be. carefully examined by the eonferenee and a report will be made to the departmeut containing any suggestions deeided upon.
