WELLINGTON, OCt. 'i. A student at Wellington College, R. D. Adams, has been awarded the Murray Geddes Memorial prize for 1947 by the eoupcil of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand. Practically all-his work has been carried out at Wellington College Observatory, which possesses one nf the finest five inch Zeiss equatorial refracting telescopes in the Dominion. Master Adams had observed eclipses and occultations, and had made projection drawings of sunspots, besides a little work in photography' The society's report on the award. says that besides the particular astronomical work he had done, he had shown the true spirit of an astronomer in interesting his school fellows in the subject.
