NEW CQNNECTIONS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY Beeause of the acute shortage of telephones, the eoixneption of private residences to the local exr change%has been suspended indefinitely. , Making this statement this morning, the postmaster, Mr, L. A. Whitham, added that a shipment pf telephones from overseas shoulcl have arrived in September, but had fajled to materialise. No further supplies were expected till January and even then. it was not certain that full requirements would be available. Ali other centres would be in the same position as Levin, concluded Mr. Whitham.
