FREAK SMASH ON AMERICAN RAILWAY

A freak accident derailed the- ninecarriage soutlibouiid Southern PaciiicWest Coast express early today but the enginedriver continued for a mile before ke diacovered he had lost lm train. Two employees 011 the traiu suffered cuts and bruises. The enginedriver aaid: "The fir.st I kuew anvtliing was wrong was when I looked back and saw I had no train. I baeked up about a rnile before I eaine to the wrockage. ' ' The train was travelling at .'55 miles an honr. Eailway ofticials olfered no explanation of the accident.
