Tlie Republiean Presiclential eandidate, Mr. Harold Stassen, said today tliat ITnited States should insist tliat any future aid to Britain is made conditional 011 the British Government agreeing not to proeegd any further with soeialisation plans for steel or any other industries. Mr. Stassen considered it would be impraeticable for TJnited States to insist that countries receiving aid should repeal the soeialisation sehenies already in operation, "but we should insist that they go no further with the system of economic planning wherein we do not believe and which all the evidence sliows deters rather than increases production i and lowers the standard of living. " ! Mr. Stassen is eonsidered the most progressive of Republiean possibilities j for the Presidential candidature.
