COALITION GOVERNMENT
FABMER TJKGES FOEMATION The contention that the forniation o£ a eoalitiou (xoveriinient in New Zea land would be welcomed by a grean nianv people and would assist thDominion over a eritieal period in hi.s tory, was voieed- by Mr. II. -1. McT.eavey, ehairnian of the Manawatu Provincial Executive of Federated Farmers, at a meeting in Palmerston North yesterday. Mr. MeLeavev stated that the forma tiion of such a Government would not ,be easv but the perpetual political bickerings of party politics, the alarm ing development of communistic infiuence throughout the country, and members of Parliament wasting thei n time in futile wrangling, would be re. inoved. By picking the brains of both parties to forin a strong' governmen' 'they would be able to get on with the ,1°b. England had a job to do also, said; Mr. McLeavey. It was no inspiratinn ; to New Zealand workers to increase production when the English minei-si were on strike losing thousands of ton-;-of coal per day. England, also„ could forra a coalition government insteadl of : wasting valuable- time with petty argu'ments in the Commans. With a party government wqj'killg vs it was now the countrv could never b.e strong. Tf there were-a strong coa'liiion government . in New Zealand at the present time it would be- able to'make a strong stand against the increasing communistic tendeni'ies throughout the Dominion.
