DECIDING ON WELLINGTON'S WAR MEMORIAL
WELLINGTON, Sept. 10. A meeting of Wellington citizens held recently under the ghairmanship of the Mayor, Mr. Will Appleton, decided to set up a committee thoroughly representative of all sections of the community to consider a World War II memorial. Many suggestions have already been received and interested organisations are invited to submit ideas to the town clerk. In view of the fact that Wellington already possesses two war memorials, it is likely that any new memorial will take a utilitarian form, though it is suggested that there should be some recognition of those who gave their lives in the second World War incorporated 'in the present memorials.
