BY-ELECTION CAMPAIGN OPENED
Labour 's cainpaign in the Moutit Albert by-eJection to be held on September 24 waa qpened on.Tlnirsday niglit. The Naticnal Party bandidate will open his caiiipaign next Tuesday. -'The Labour candidate, Alr. W. Freer, will be assisted next week by the Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash), who Will speak on Monday niglit. It is be lieved lliat other senior niembers of the Labour Party will also take part in the campaign. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Holland) will arrive in Auckland on iSeptember 22 to address electors. Other National members of Parliament will assist the National Party candidate. A total of 1222 names has been in eluded in the Mount Albert supplementary electorai roll. With' 14,556 on the inain and supplementary rolls at tlie General Kleetion last year, this ligure brings the total enrolled in the district to 15,778. Deletions because of clianges of address have yet to be made, however, and it is likely that the total will be reduced by between 900 and 1000, bringing it to the vicinity oi 14,800. All New Zealand troops in Japar) who lived in the Mount Albert elee torate will liave the opportunity of voting at the l)y-election.
