PATRICK HAS FOUGHT HIS LAST FIGHT
Received Tuesdav, 9.40 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 27 The newspapers are unanimous that Vie Patriek, Australian lightweight ehampion, has fought his last fight. The principal . authority for this is Mrs. Patriek who says: "Vic has a life to live aud I do' not want him auy more in boxing." He is recovering well from his injurics incurred in the fight last night with Freddie Dawson and was diseharged from hospital late this afterhoon. According to oue correspondent "his face bears grim testimony to the punishment he ,took out, His brain is absolutely clear." . He has no regrets about retiring as he has not squandered his earnings. He has his own well furnished house and car and a favourable bank balance. In 13 major bouts over the past seven vears he colleeted purses amounting to £14,800. . . : Pred Dawson intends to make an immediate bid foi a world titl'e fight against the ehampion Ike Williams. In the meantime he is providing a headache for the promoters of Stadiums Limited who flew him to Australia under cbntract for five fights i'n 90 days. On his showing last night there is nobody in the Commonwealth ih his own weight division to put against Dawson.
