Army garrisons are reported to have risen in all towns. The eapital, Quito, and the main seaport, Guayaquil, are cairn but motorised trocps jxassed through Quito all day eii route to quell the revolt. The Govern ment is reported to be seeking to arrest the Conservative leader, Dr. Mariano Kuarez Veintimilla, who served as vice-president and president of Congress during President Jose Mana Ibarra's presidential regiine which was ended by Mancheno in a bloodless coup on August 23.
