SHOCKING TRAGEDY IN HOME IN SYDNEY

Received Sundav, 7.35 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 25. In a cottage in the siiburb of Hurstville today, three children were slashed to death. Neighbours found a fourth child and the fatlier bleeding from wounds in the throat. Both are in a serious condition but are expected to live. • The man is Edtnund Arnold, who was living with his wife and four children aged seven, live, three and one year rcspectively. When Airs. Arnold ran screaming into tlie street, neighbours found Arnold lying 011 the back verandah unconscious with a blood«tained carving knife nearliy. The baby lav in a cot apparently having been killed while sleeping. Tlie body of the three-year-old daugliter was in a batli half-fllled with water. Lying face down in tlie lounge room amid broken toys was the body of the eldest daugliter. The ffve-year-old daugliter was found in bed in the front room and was rushed to hospital with the fatlier.
