INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF DRAMA AND MUSIC

LONDON, August 24. Crowds in Edinburgh today watched a colourful procession of city dignitaries to St. Jiles' Cathedral for tlie dedication service opening the lirst internatiorial festival of drama and music. Representatives of eiglit foreign nationalities were amongst the most cosmopolitan congregation ever in the cathedral, which included the Lord Provost, representatives of the | church, law, medicine and arts. For the second time in history the High Constables, guards of Holyrood House, appeared outside the palace wearing bright blue uniforms and tri-corner hats. Dr. G. L. Warr, in his sermon said it was the duty of the cliurches to foster and promote aesthetic appreciation. The French orchestra, des Con certa, gave a symphony concert in Usher Hall.
