hutt valley too strong for horowhenua

MASTERTON, Aug. 26. The foilowing are the results of yesterday afternoon's games in the primary school quadrangulat tournament at Carterton: Hutt Valley beat Horowhenua 14 — 3; Wellington beat Wairarapa 15 — 3. The heavy and hard rucking Hutt Valley forwards proved too much for Horowhenua, whose display, particularly in the backs, was disappointing after their fine exhibition in the second spell of . their match with Wellington on Saturday. With three minutes gone in the second spell Hutt had established a 14 — 0 lead. The Horowhenua forwards then adopted the dribbling rushes that had stood them in such good stead in the Wellington game. For the rest of the game they had Hutt on the defensive and about half way through the spell Ryder, who was playing a great forward game, went over near the corner. . Horowhenua kept up the pressure and just before full time Davis snapped up from a loose scrum near the Hutt line to ground the ball alongside the posts. Unfortunately, onis took place on the far side of the scrum to the referee, who did not ailow the try. The game ended without further score. The tournament points to date are as follows: Hutt Valley 4, Wellington 3, Horowhenua 1, Wairarapa 0. The final games will be played today, when Horowhenua meet Wairarapa and Wellington play Hutt Valley.
