CONVERSION OF EGYPT'S STERLING BALANCES

Received Monday, 11 a.m. CAIRO, Aug. 24. The Finance Minister, Abdel Badr, stated that he had asked the Egyptian Ambassador in London to tell the British Government that Egypt, between August 24 and October 31, should be allowed to convert £2,500,000 into dollars mstead of the £1,500,000 which Britain had authorised. The Ambassador has been instructed to state that Egypt's undetermined dollar needs from October 31 to December 31 should be met in accordance with the recent agreement on Egypt's sterling balances, authorising the conversion of £20,000,000 sterling to December 31.
