KIMBERLEY W.I. MEETS

PLEASANT AFTERNjOON SPENT The day was cold ar d wet for the August meeting .of the Kimberley Women's Ins^tute, held last week, and the attendan-ce .suSered ineonsequence. The president, Mrs. Dome, occupied the chair and wel.comed visitors and members. _ The meeting opened with the irstitute ode and aspiraiions, Ap.ologes for absence were reeeived from Mesdames Benning, Callender, Aitehisoh, Woodmass, Hudson. and Small. The usual business was dealt with and an irvitation reeeived from the* Ohau branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers to attend their birthday •paxty on Aug.ust 14. Mrs. Evans gave a talk on the British exhibi•tion of arts and crafts held recently in Palmerston North. Mrs. Greenwood sang two songs which delighted the members, A brimg-and-buy stall was in charge of Mrs. •C-r-owe. 'The hostesses were Mesda-mes Benning, L. -Griffith and Hagan. 'The results of the competilions were as follows: — Best flower: Mrs. J. Griffith 1, "kfrs. Evans 2, Mrs. Coulsor 3. * Best spray: Mrs. Crowe 1, Mrs. Field 2, Mrs. Evans 3. President's eompetition, jug of narcissi: Mrs. Evans 1, Mrs." Field 2. The next meeting will be on September 10 as the group rally takes place on the usual day. Members were asked to bring a small .gift to this meeting suitable for a boy or girl. These are for the Christmas party to be held on December 11 for those at the Levin Farm.
