Mr. J. Cummings, Commissioner of Police, left New Zealard yester•day to attend a .conference of chiefs 4 of police of the Common•wealth of Aiistralia. 1 Mr. iind Mrs; W. J. Guinan whl have widespread sympathy'id'h the UBbhnely death of their elder soh, Reginald William, which -occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital yesterday at the age of 15 years. Hb w.as -educatad .at the Levin Convent .School and was in his second y.ear at Horowhenua College when illness overtook him. Since last October Master .Guinan had been .an almost -.constant patient in hospital, hearing his long illness with patienoe and fortiiu.de. He was a popular me-mber of the Levin Boy Scouts .and also the j.unior branch of the Manchester IJnity of the^ Oddfellows' Lodge. The death in Auckland recently of Mr. -Francis Alexander (Paddy) McMimp .at the age of 73 years, will be deeply regxetted by a wide circle of ifriends in the Manawatu. Mr. McMinn spent the greater part of his life dn Palmerston North, where he was engaged in the plastering trade. He earned wide renown on the foorball field, being a Manawatu representative -over a ■lengthy period, and reaching the climax of his prowess when seleeted as an All Black in 1904. 'On leaving Palmerston. North, Mr.. McMinn todk up his residence >in Auckland -Where he was aotiv.ely ■engaged at his trade until h'is death. He was pnedeeeased by 'his wi-fe and 'leaves an adult family of four -daughters and two sors. Mr. Leslie McMinn, of "Levin, is a brother.
