SUPPORT OF PEOPLE NEEDED
IF U.N. IS TO BE A SUCCESS The ■ success of the United Nations depends ultimately on the continued support' of t^ie peoples oi the wor-ld. This support In turn must be based upoii enlightened public opinior- and the widest possible knowle'dge of the problems cOhfrontjng -ihe United Nations and the procedure used in their solution. There must, therefore, be an. unofficial body helping the United Nations to capture the imagination and harness the enthusiasm of the peoples of the world. A ■ movement to gi ve this assistance and supporc, the United Nations Association, is now ir being in 24 countries of the world, and New Zealand has alread'y gone some way towards arousing interest among the people of the DominLon. Branches of this associatior have now been formed in 12 centres hroughout the coufitry and on August 22 a meeting is to be held :in Levin with the object of forming a stror g branch. There is no reason Why Levin, with. the large rural-urban population surrounding it, should not be whole-heartedly behind the formation of such a branch. The enthusiasm which the community has shown itself capable of in time of war should be 'enrolled to enforce the objects of the United Nations Charter.
