During May there were 31 convrctions for breaches of the .Price Control regulatiors, the fines amounting to £124. The ofrences, which were committed at Auckland, Gisborne, Hastings, Levin, Nelson and Christchurch, arose from the sale of meat, fish, brandy, wpdgies, sandals, frocks, surts, apples, apricots ard plums. Six convictions were for fallure to exhibit price orders. Between May, 1940, when prosecutions were first laid under the regulations, and May 31, 1947, there have been 1985' convictions, the penalties amour.ting to £11, '003 15s.
