BOYS' BAND BALL
Q V LARGEL Y - ATTENDED FUNCTION Confetti and streamers were liberally employed to add to - the gaiety of the ball condiicted on Saturday night by the Levin Boys' Band. Ove,r 300 attended the function, at which the guest of honour was Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P. for Otaki, and Mrs. Maher. The' M.C. for the evening was Mr. A. S. Denholm. ' Natiye ferns and shrubs formed an attractive background to the liberal bunting. Hand-painted on a large canvas was the replica of a Dutch scene. After having been introduced by the band's patron, Mr. J. W. Hayfield, Mr. Maher complimented the committee on the decorations and general conduct of the dance. The Levin Boys' Band, he added, was a credit to the tdwn. He hoped one day to see the bahd ieading the Levin marching girls. The waltzing competition was the main attrb,ction of the evening; the lucky couple were Mr. J. Millard and his daughter, Miss S. Millard. Ah added attraction was a tap dance by Master Jack Elliott, a pupil of Miss Jean Scott.
