Personal Mrs. J. Sinclair and Miss C. SinClair, of Vance Street, left yesterday af temoon to spend a holiday visit to Dunedin. Miss P. Moynihan, of the nursing staff of the Wellington Hospital, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Moynihan, East Road. Mr. and Mrs. G. Hyde, who have been holidaying with Mrs. E. L. Hyde, Thompson Street, have returned to their home in Hamilton. Cost of Fire Engine Rjeporting at Tuesday's meeting of the Shannon Borough CounciZ the town clerk, Mr. J. VT. Bovis, advised that donations amounting to £609 15s 9d had been received from the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade. This amount had been expended by purchasing a new fire engine to the value of £593 5s 5d and insurance on the machine was £16 10s 4d. Ladies' Rest Room At the fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Borough Council on Tuesday evening a letter was received from the Public Works Department, advising that the Main Highway Board's policy was not to erect buildings of any description on road or street reserves under its control. In view of this, the Main Highways Board regretted that it was unable to agree to the erection of a ladies' rest room on any portion of the Levin to Palmerston North main highway, via Shannon, in the Shannon Borough.
