RAILWAY WAGGONS DERAILED
— V MISHAP NEAR OTAKI Three railway waggons were derailed half a niile south of the Otaki railway stat.ion just before 1 a.m. yesterciay. They were paro of a slow goods train travelhng from Wellington to Palmerston Norih. The ira'in was delayed five and ahalf hours. Other goods trains were also affected anu ihe express from Auckland to Wellington was delayed an hour. The deraiiment came about when an air pipe rn the train : 's braking system burst. The waggons aftectcd were lightly laden and in between heavily laden ones which apparently jerked them off the rails in the sudden st'op; The three trucks were badly damaged, but their cargo of jeeps ueemed not to have suttered. There was slight damage to the tracks.
