SHANNON PLUNKET SOCIETY
Mrs L W. Wilson presided over the monthly meeting of the Shannon sub-branch of the Plunket Society. Other committee members present were Mesdames C. Tremewan (secretary) , F. Edmonds, J. A. Easton, J. Creagh, C. Wishart, E. Barber and R. R. Lind, and also Mrs. F. Denoon, who was welcomed as a new member. ' _ Inward correspondence mcluded an invitation to attend the annual meeting of the Levin branch. Sevreal posters in connection with the forthcoming Plunket ball were displayed and detailed arrangements for this function were made, it being decided that committee members be responsible for the making of 30 dozen savouries. The nurse's report for June was as follows: "Number of visits paid to Shannon totalled four and visits to homes three; 57 babies, 2 pre-school children and 57 adults visited _the rooms during the month. There was one new baby. Colds are prevalent and the attendance at the rooms has been good in spite of the weather conditions. The nurse hoped that more Plunket mothers would bring their preschool children along regularly every six months for a medical Subscriptions of five shillings each were "received from Mesdames D. Cole, Junr., V. J. Bateman, T. Thompson and Candy. , The committee discussed the suitability of the standing table for the scales. It was understood from the nurse that an offer had been received for the old scales, which were only suitable for weighing babies and not pre-school children. It was decided that the scales be sold.
