OTAKI BOY SCOUTS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the Otaki Boy Scouts'' Association committee was held last week. There were present: Mr. Rule (in.the chair), Mesdames Allan, Meagher, Henwood, Smith, Boggs, Moffatt and Housiaux and Messrs. Moss, Bills, Edhouse, 'Hannah and Renner. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Cole and Stevenson. Miss Pascoe was elected hon. secretary to replace Mrs. Mitchell. Mr. Rule read a letter from the contingent secretary, Mr. Dale, expressing appreciation of the message received on the contingent's departure abroad. A letter was received from Mr. Kelly, thanking Mrs. Henwood '(acting secretary) for her letter and account of the annual meeting. A report frbm Mr. Renner (scoutmaster) was read. The new hut is to be erected on July 12. Arising also from this report, it was decided that Mr. Renner be empowered to make enquiries about buying wire 'covers for light bulbs and some J-inch rope. It was resolved that Mr. and Mrs. Nicolson be written to regarding election to the committee, apologising for the omission at the annual meeting and hoping they would accept re-election. Arrangements for the exhibition were discussed. A sub-committee comprising Mesdames Housiaux, Meagher and Allan, and Messrs. Bills, Edhouse, Hannah and Moss. It was decided to hold a shop day, one stall in the town and one at the station on July 25. Mesdames Housiaux and Smith are to be in charge of the street day. 'Messrs. Edhouse and Moss agreed to help with the- erection of tables, cartage, etc. Mrs. Henwood reported that Mrs. Renner was unable to carry on as scoutmaster and that a letter of appreciation of her services be forwarded to her. Mrs. Henwood said she knew of someone who would take her place. Mrs. Henwood also asked that the committee place on record the assistance given by Miss Gaymour in typing the minutes of the annual meeting. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman. The next committee meeting was fixed for August 14.
