HOSTEL FOR WORKERS
^ FACTORY'S ENTERPRISE For the first time in Foxton's history a hostel has been opeiied to provide accommodation for employees in industry. The building was' formerly the residence of Mrs. E. M. Wyllie, and is situated in Clyde Street. This property was recently acquired by N.Z. Woolpack and^ Textiles, Ltd., who carried out certai'n alterations and on Monday twelve Maori girls from Ratana took up their residence there. They are catered for by Mr. and Mrs. H. Pikimaui, also of Ratana, and are . employed . in the weaving. depari,ment of, the factory. Mr. Pikimaui reports" that fliey have all setded . down, and that the girls are lyell . satisfied with their employmeht and accommodation. The company will shortly.pppn- a larger hostel for mep in Avenue Road. This will comprise- iridividuai rooms with a pommunity .diningroom. ' ••
