The death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Thurs-' day night of Mr. Henry Bevan, for sorne years „a well-known resident of Ov.aki but latterly of Palmerston. Deceased was 59 years of age. Desmond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Capewell, who is at present overseas with the Boy. Scouts, writes mterestin'gly from Scotland. Lodge held a dance in the Anglican Hall on Monday evenrng. There was a good atjendance of members and inends and a most enjoyable time was spent by all present! The floor was in splendid order, and stricitempo dance music was supplied by Mr. Pat Sharp, while Mr. Dan Pacey was an able and efiicient M.C. A delicious supper was served. The I.O.O.F. is again functioning after being in recess during the war years, and sixteen new membrs wer recently initiaied. into the order. It is proposed to hold mdoor bowls during the winter months. It must be encouraging to see that new members are taking an active interest in ihe affairs of the lodge. Domain Improvements Members of the Otaki Borough Council made an inspection of the dressing rooms at the Otaki Domain on Thursday, and in consequence showers win be installed. Sports bodies will be gratified when this arnenity is installed. The reserve on Riverbank Road was also inspected and improvements are to be effected to the grounds. The provision of buildings, however, will be left in abeyance as it is too late to do anything ' which will be of benefit to hockey players during the present season.
