MUSIC FESTIVAL REHEARSAL
SCHOOL PUPILS READY The last music festival rehearsal was held in the Civic Theatre, Otaki, this week. The children from Manakau, Te Horo, Otairi, Reikorangi, Paraparaumu and Waikanae Schools were in very good form. Those present were delighted with the programme arranged by Miss Nation. The massed choir of 175 voices excelled itself and the type of songs presented brought forth favourable comment. During the morning two of the Wellington Education Board inspectors, Messrs. Stubbs and Robinson,. attended and, after listening to some of the songs, congratulated Miss Nation and the choir for the'high quahty of the work. The 'commitfee has received advice that Mr. J. Young, who conducts the school music broadcast sessions on Thursdays, will be present at the evening performance on July 23i Incl'uded in the groups of songs arranged by Miss Nation a're folk songs, Negro spirituals, sea shanties and general brackets. A very interesting numher was H. Telnple White's "Aotearoa." At the public -' performances Mr. W. H. Townrow and Miss M. Black will give vocal items.
