RUGBY ADMINISTRATION
MU MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE meets The management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union met at Levin on Tuesday night. The president, Mr. A. Gillespie, was in the chair. The committee decided to transfer Rangi Raika from the Otaki to the Rahui Football Club, and to regrade him as a junior. This was done at his own .request. After some dis.cussion it was decided that the Wellington Rugby Union he adyised that the Horowhenua Union would' like ihe representative match on August 30 played in Otaki and not Levin, as was originally planned. Commenting, Mr. E. J. Cook stated that ihe last senior representative game played in Otaki was 1939. After receiving a letter from Mr, J. D. McFarlane, sports* master at Horowhenua College, the committee approved the following intersehool ' games : —First ' fifteen : V. Rongotai College, at Wellington, July 15; v. Scots College, at Wellington, July 23; v. Feilding Agricultural High School, at Palmerston North, August 2. Seeond fifteen: V.- Rongotai College, at Wellington, 'July 15; v. Palmerston North Technical College first fifteen, at Palmerston North, July 31; v. Palmerston North Boys' High School, at Levin, August 20. Third fifteen: V. Foxton District High School, at Levin, July 15. • It was decided to send a letter to the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, asking that the ban on the use of lights at all domains be lifted. This is to enable clubs to practice at night. The chairman stated that it was no use ending the football season too so,on, as players had to be kept ■ interested. He suggested that friendly matches should be played if the competitions ended before the cl£se of the season. This was. adopted as a motion. The meeting formally declared Foxton Club the winners of the senior championship and extended congratulations to it. The first games in the Nash Cup competition for seniors will commence on Saturday next. The junior competition for the Licensed Victuallers' Cup will start on Saturday, July 19. Both these competitions will be decided over a complete round. The committee decided to refund players in the senior representative team who were stranded in Carterton overnight during the recent storm, the 10s they had to pay for rooms.
