ORATORY COMPETITION

MR. G. H. DATSON'S SUCCESS Mr. G. H. Datson, the younger son of the vicar of Foxton, who won the oratory contest field under the auspices of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Institute of Public Administration, has added to his laurels. On Tuesday last, Mr. Datson competed in the National Oratory Contest, an annual event 'attracting representatives from the branches throughout New Zealand. His subject was "The Re-organisation of the New Zealand Legislative Council," a'nd it is evident that his presentation of the subject matter found favour with the adjudicators, in that he was awarded the championship (junior division) and presented hvith a, spye? QUP- ■ .,m Mr. Datson is now eligible to compete in the senior division, and intends to represent his branch in the 1948 contest.
