R. Lind, Vance Street, had the misfortune to fracture his collar-bone while playing football last weekemd, and has to remain in bed fop a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Morris, visitors from the South Island, are at present the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Allen, "Te Maire," Shannon. The local friends of Mr. Basil Wilkinson, late of Shannon, will be pleased to learn that he is recovering from his recent serious motor-cycle accident, but it will be some months before he can resume his duties. Mr. Wilkinson has returned to his home at Plimmerton after spending some time in the Wellington Hospital. Land for Ex-Servicemen The acquisition of 260 acres of land, six miles from Tokomaru, previousiy belonging to Mr. Herman Seifert, is announced in a statement by the Rehabilitation i Department. It will be known as the Rangitane Farm Settlement and will be divided into four dairying farms. The farms will be for the settlement of returned servicemen. __
