Holfman knoelced Pippett down for the couht of three in the fourth round and rushed in for the knockout as the Australian reeled to the ropes with his gloves on either side of . his head. Pippett; was rolling almost by instinei to avoid Hoffman's punehes but just as he broke clear the referee, Mr. E. C. Armishaw, stepped ih and stopped the fight awarding the decision to Hoffman. As the boxers stopped Pippett 's left ear was seen to be swollen to several times its normal size. It was clear it would have been dangerous for him to eontinue. w
