WIDESPREAD FLOODING IN THAMES
THAMES, July 3. Extremely heavy rain totalling three inches up to 9 o'ciock this morning and continuing unabated tliroughout the day, caused widespread flooding in Thames and district. Coromandel is virtually cut off by road after a slip on Kereta hill and the partial collapse of a road bridge. The Kauaeranga Vailey i'oad is also blocked by jslipsi Hundreds of .acres of land in the boroitgh and in Thames County to .the south were under water this afternoon as the Kauaeranga River overswept its banks. In Thames about a dozefi houses were snrrounded with water but the homes were not entered. A warning was issued by the borough authorities to residents to take prfecantions figaiiist further flooding. A slip on tlie hjll area in Thames blocked a street and snrrounded the houSe -of Mfs. L. M. .DicJvSOn with clebris/koilte eiltering the house.
