RECORD FALL IN JUNE A record for rain in the district was established during JTUiie When, according to figures recorded by, Mr. H. Harvey, 9.44 inches fell in 2(/ days. of the month, culminating in thfe flooding bf a iarge area of land. Tllis Is the Highest tofal recorded in any single month for the past sixteen years and probably much lohger. The climax was reached durin - last weekend, when, accompanied by a strohg southerly gale, Levin ahd district was swept by torrential rain. .During the first six months of 1947; 22.34 inches of rain fell. The tdtal for the first six months of the past two years was: 1945, 27,76 inches; 1946, 21.62 inches. In 1945 the rainfall at Levin for a full year was 50.37 inches. This was the highest for ten years.
