"SILENT KILLERS"
The (Opeyatiqns last Jambing season of what ^ihey ^described as a "silent killer" has been the subject of concern tamong farmers dn the Otaki district. In a petition headed by Mr. W. M. Simcox, a number of settlers brought the matter of unregistered dogs to the attention of the HprOtW^enpa '.County 'Gouncil at its last meeting. Commenting on the ejcperienc.e last year, Mr. Simcqx sfated in his letter that one dog had wo.rried and kyied 70 lambs .on five f arms in f?he district. "We managed to find the owner though the dog had no coli lar. vComjpensation -was paid for the loss of the iarabs, but not for the werrv and .work entailed," stated Mr. Simcox. Coinmenting, the .clqrk, JVIr. F. :H. Hiidson, said the matter was .one which should he faken up in conjunction with the Otaki Borough Cf uncil.
