Rongotai Aerodrome v Owing to unexpected maintenance work, Rongotai aerodrome will be unserviceable fr.om Thursday next for approximately 14 .days, for all comm,ercial aircraft excepting those operating between Rongotai and Blenheim and Nelson. Aircraft for all other places; will leave from Paraparaumu ,which will necessitate transport •to the aerodrome leaving the city earlier than when Rongotai, is .ip use. In a letter to Mhe board, . which was received by the monthly meeting yesterday, the director -stated he would be referring the matter to Air Department for consideration. Oil Burning Locos The cohversion of locomotives to oil fuel is progressing well and it is expected that 15 will be in commission -by September. There are five of these locomotives now in use and a sixth is almost ready for trial runs. The oil burners now in service are being used .on the main trunk between, Wellington and Taumarunui, bu,t eventually they will operate on the East .Coast line and the Wanganui line as well. / Bulls Bridge Traffic Members of the Bulls Town Board were informed at the monthly meeting of the board held last week, that 1200 cars had crossed the Bulls bridge " in a period of four ho'urs. The Transport Department expressed amazement at these figures and " an engineer from the Traffic Department will shortly conf er with the bogrd over the question of traffic control at the main intersecting corner. The question of shifting the signposts further down the road is also under consideration! Slip on Railway Because of the slip on the railway line between Paritu and Beach loop, south of Gisborne, the Wellington-Gisborne railcar was held at Wairoa early \yesterday morning and the passengers were brought on by service car, which arrived at Gisborne at 4:30 a.m. Passengers from Gisborne to Napier by railcar trayelled by service car to Wairoa and goined -the -railcar there. The slip was cleared by 3 a.m. yesterday, -but -as the result of the dislocation the afternoon railcar from Napier reached -Gisborne at 2.25 p.m., two hours late.' Tasman Flying Boats The fourth Tasman class flyingboat to be delivered to the Tasman Empire Airways will be named. . R.M.A. Auckland, the .company announces. The letters R.M.A. -are; the standard abhreviation for Royal Mail Airliner. R.M.A. Auckland is expected 'to reach New Zealand in September. When this air- , .craft begins regular .operation, the frequency of air ser-vices between. New Zealand and Australia will be . mcreased from seven to nine -a' week.
