Aite.r reaching 70, it is necessary for an applicant to have a driving test each year, and also an oral test. In addition the applicant must -also produce a medical certificate. Some 45 persons in this category were put •through the test yesterday, the inspectors stating afterwards that the standard generaliy was fairly good. Both the inspectors and ihe local 'bodies appealed yesterday to all those who contemplate renewing their licences to do so as early •as -possibl'e, thus avoiding a Jasiminute rush resulting in additional pressure being placed on the staffs. Last year -1059 vehiele driveps were licenced in the Levin Borough, but only 107 licences have been issued to date. In the Horowhenua County 1767 were issued iast year as.against 130 up to yesterday. All licences must be renewed by June 30. ~
