PRESENTATION MADE TO TWO FOUNDATION MEMBERS 'There was a good attendance of members at the May meeting ?f the Poroutawhao Women's Institute, Mrs. Carle presiding. Members showed keen interest in Mrs. Scott's report o£ the council meeting held at Manakau recently. A pleasing feature of the afternoon was the presentation of Good Service Badges to two foundation members. They . were Mrs. J. Spiers, the convener of the fi.rst meeting and the institute's first president, and Mrs. C. Arcus who held offlce for seven years as secretary and two years as president. The two members have been wonderful workers especially during the war years and were seldem absent frrom either monthly or committee meetings. During the afternoon Mrs. Green presented a competition whfch was won by Mrs.- Scott. Other competitions were won as follows:— Best bloom: Mrs. Hgnham; best shrub: Mrs. Hanham;' best vegetable: Miss Old; senior monthly competition, blackberry jelly: Mrs. Hanham; junior-: Miss B. Carle. . * The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to .a close.
