WELLINGTON, June 13. If: was correct that the Government had decided to meet by way of subsidy the increased amount which wpoflen, factories had had to. this year for -wool, stated the Minister of Stubilisation (Hon..- A. H, Rord- ! meyer),, commenting tonight on the report that New /.eaiana-made woollen goods were now being reieased. The Minister said an examination Of the iucreas.es which the public rouiti have heen rcquirod to pay if the . whole price was to be passed on to the oonsumejr co.nvincedl the Government that the wise course was .to subsidise the amount required to bridge the gap between last year's ■prices and this. ■' The amount was iftot, howover, £60,0,0,0.0 as suggc.stqd but approximately ' half that sum. The Government had also decided that the question of wholesale mar- , gins allovvable to .warcliousing milis would be reviewed as indeed would all distributive margins. The question of what increase, if any, the mills would he entitled to in respect to increased wages would also be the subject of investigation and this could be most conveniently undertaken when the annual accounts of the woollen mills were completed.
