GRAND DRAMA FESTIVAL
KEEN INTEREST BEING DISPLAYED As the time draws nearer keen interest is being display ed in the Drama Festival eondueted by the Southern Wellington Federation of the New Zeaiand Women's Institute. Last year's adjudicator, Miss. Judith Terry, of Auckland, said she was delightfully surprised at the very high standard of most of the players and plays presented, and awarded Levin's drama and Qtaki's comedy the highest marks She had ever awarded any plays at a festival in her long career of adjudicating. Casts are all busy rehearsing and the indications are that the eoming festival will be equal to if not J more successful than the previous ones. A new and very promising team to enter this year's trials is the Levin Juniors, so far the only junior* institute in the federation. On Monday next in the College Hall, Levin, the Levin W.I. will present ari interest holding drama", "Flickering Light." The producer is -Mrs. A. Savell. A bright breezy comedy "Every one e'omes to Mabel," then follows, presented by the Levin Junior circle and produced by Miss Beth Blenkhorn. For the flnale another- good comedy, "Thereby Hangs a Tale," will. be presented by the Otaki W.I., the^ , producer being Mrs. Gower. Wednesday £he 18th will see the .Otaki W.I. present in the Civie Theatre an exciting comedy, "One Wedding, Two Brides." The joint producers are Misses P. Fogdep and H. Lea. Then follows a good drama, "The Phantom Ship," staged by the Tawa Flat W.I. with Mrs. Edmonds as producer. This session concludes with a br-ight comedy, "Three Young Ladies in a . Temper," staged by the Te Hojo' W.I. Mrs. N. E. Spiers is the producer. At Levin on Thursday 19 the Levin Juniors (Miss Beth Bfenkhorn, producer), will present a thrilling type of comedy-drama,. "All Night Service," and this wi'il be followed by a lighter type in the same category entitled '-'A Paymaster in Every Family," by the Te Horo W.I. (Mrs. N. E. Spiers, producer) . The final play, a highly entertaining comedy, "The Curse of Cairo," will be presented by the Levin W.I. (Mrs! A. Savell, producer) . The adjudicator's awards and presentations will follow and patrons are reminded that the doors will be open to ticket holders from 7 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. No parking of5 cars in the College grounds is permitted. '
