SISTER HORNER SPEAKS TO WOMEN'S MEETING On Friday last Sister Horner, whd' has been with UNRRA ■ and CORSO, both in Germany and China, gave an interesting and inspiring address on a 1200-mile journey by motor truck from Hankow into the interior of China. The meeting was held in the Anglican Hall. Miss C. Holmes, who was in the chair, introduced the speaker to a large gathering of women representing the Anglican, Presbyterian and Methodist Churches, who combined with members of the Women's Institute and Women's Division of Federated Farmers for the purpose of meeting and hearing the speaker. After the introduction, Miss Hornfg; jp,s presented with a bouquet 6y Mrs. Drew. She then went on to tell of her experiences on the trip, which was carried out for the inspection of hospitals. Miss Horner intends to return to China to open a children's welfare centre and train Chinese women on the lines of the Plunket Society's work. At the end of the address, Miss Holmes, called on Mrs. Drew, president of the Women's Institute to propose a vote of thanks, which was seconded by Mrs. Blackburn, president of the Women's Division. Mrs. Blake, vice-president of the Plunket Society, also added her

| appreciation and wished Miss j Horner every success in her future work. 1 A delicious afternoon tea was then served, after which Miss Horner showed some of the very beautiful things she had collected on her travels. These included a shawl over 100 years old, which was given her ' by a gratef ul Ukrainian mother, whose baby's life she had saved. Musical items were supplied by Mesdames Bartholomew and Anderson. The' proceeds of the afternoon were handed to Miss Horner for use in buying equipment for her future work. A very enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
