Personal Mesdames W. Morton, of Otaki, and G. Gameron, of Levin, are spending a vacation in Napier. Mr. D. Ryder, of Hawke's Bay, is visiting Otaki, staying with liis father, Mr. F. J. Ryder. Mr. H. W. Meyer, a member of the office staff for several years, has been, appointed assistant secretary 6f the Wellington Racing Club. Mr. Neil Synnott, who has been o n a visit to Otaki on account of the illness of his father and mother, has returned to his home at Masterton. The death occurred on Monday at her residence, Beach Road, Waikanae, of Miss Lucy Mowbray, a well-known resident who had resided at Waikanae for 1 many years. . In view of her approaching marriage, Miss Doris Bray has tendered her resignation as secretary of the Wellington Racing Club. At a meeting of stewards this week Miss Bray's resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place on record keen appreciation of . her services: The resignation will take effect on September 30. Miss Bray is to marry Mr. H. H. Green, a retired dental surgeon of Wellington. Mr. Green is a steward of the Wellington Racing Club and is also an executive member of the New Zealand Racing Conference. Miss Bray joined the staff of the Wellington Racing Club 20 years ago and for 14 years has held the position of secretary. She was the first woman secretary to be appointed by a racing club in New Zealand. Pension Payments Old age pensions will be paid at the Otaki Post Office on the 19th, widows' pensions on the 23rd, windows' pensions on the 23rd, veterans on the 30th, and superannuation on the 30th.
