PARAPARAUMU NOTES
("Chronicle" Correspondent)
A group rally of the Kapiti group of "Women's Institutes was held recently in Otaki. Mrs. Taylor, president of the Otaki W.I., welcomed all guests and introduced Mrs. Grant, who was elected convener of the Kapiti group. A very interesting . address on institute matters was given by Mrs. Deans, of the Dominion executive. She was presented with a lovely bouquet of violets in appreeiatiem of her visit. An exhibition of work by the members of the various groups proved very interesting. Articles of utility and of beauty were displayed. Among the articles exhibited were crochet work, knitting, pokerwork, quilting, patchwork, Venetian embroidery and applique work. Afternoon tea was served. Much sympathy is felt for Mrs. Roseman and family, whose father, Mr. George Jenkins, died recently in Otaki. The friends of Mrs. Kelso, president of the Wellington Federation of Women's Institutes, will be glad to hear that she is now out of hospital and well on the road to recovery after her recent illness. The Paraparaumu Beach branch of the Anglican Chureh Guild held an afternoon party at the home of Mrs. I. Hickson, Paraparaumu Beach. There was a good attendance and a very pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by all. A penny competition was won by Mrs. White-Scott, and it caused much amusement. Another competition was- wpn by Miss Rita MacLean. Mrs. D. Cobb Was the winner of the guessing competition. Afternoon tea was served. A brisk business was done by the saies table, vhich was well stocked with saleable goods.
